Laura Sallstrom is a seasoned expert in international trade and technology policy, with over 30 years of experience advising Fortune 50 companies and governments globally on data policy, intellectual property, AI, and business regulations. As a founding partner of ThinkTech Policy Consulting, her mission is to help clients deliver the future by navigating complex international policy landscapes.
As the former Global Head of Public Policy at Access Partnership, Laura spearheaded initiatives on cloud computing, supply chains, and digital trade, driving the firm’s expansion into Europe and Asia. She has consulted for Google, Microsoft, Salesforce, and SpaceX, among others, shaping industry strategies to help her clients meet the current moment.
Previously, Laura was the Director Asia Pacific at the Business Software Alliance and held key roles at the U.S. Trade Representative’s Office, providing public policy support for the technology industry and influencing global trade policy. An Adjunct Professor at Duke University, she lectures on trade and technology and China and technology. She has conducted research in cross-border data flows, AI governance, gender bias in cybersecurity, and China’s Digital Silk Road.
Passionate about mentorship, Laura co-founded the Women’s Prosperity Lab and has led initiatives supporting women in tech policy. She also served on the board of GlobalWIN, a bipartisan forum for women who are passionate about innovation to grow personally and professionally.
